Harborview Homeowners Association Newsletter AUGUST 2007
PRESIDENT’S Comments
Good things are happening at Harborview. We have been enjoying the beautiful summer weather. Some improvements have been made to our neighborhood and I hope you take advantage of the community we have provided. We could use some volunteers. This would involve more people in our community than just the effort provided by the board of directors. Please read the articles below and call to help us out. If you have any suggestions for us to improve our community, please contact any of the board members listed below.
NEWSLETTER EDITOR To make our newsletter more interesting and more informative, we need someone who has an interest in this area. We are looking for someone who has computer skills and has excellent writing skills to make the content more meaningful and useful and to develop a challenging new look our newsletter. Please call our secretary Nancy Kearns, if you are willing to help with this project.
GARDENER help needed… no experience required Norm Hutcheson needs volunteers to water the twelve new trees we have planted near the playground/shelterhouse/pool area. They have to be watered every two or three days to keep them alive this first year. In a short period of time they will provide some valuable shade for us all to enjoy.
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH We have started a Neighborhood Watch program and will be installing signs very soon. We will need volunteers to inform everyone about this new program very soon. Please volunteer to help Billie Francis at 873-0069.
New BOARD MEMBER appointed We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new board member to complete the term of a prior board member. Craig Mattke is also our Webmaster. He has done an excellent job of updating our website since last January. He has accepted the board member appointment and will be serving until January 2008 or longer if we can convince him. Thank you Craig.
PAINTERS needed We would like to paint the pool house this fall or next spring before we open again. See Norm Hutcheson to volunteer for this project.
REMINDER: Pool Closing after Labor Day weekend Our swimming pool will be closing for the season after Labor Day weekend. Thank-you to Anna and her team for taking such good care of our pool facility this year.
If you need a pool keycard, please call Dan Thompson.
THANK YOU to those who have helped on projects this year. We can accomplish so much more when we work together on things. Volunteers working on projects help keep dues down. Without volunteers your Homeowners Association must pay to have the work done.
SLOW DOWN!!!! Just a reminder, the speed limit in Harborview is 25 mph!! (All of Smithville, unless posted otherwise, is 25 mph.) Our streets are neighborhood streets, not thoroughfares. Children play in yards and often forget to stop and look before running into the street. Parked cars sometimes obstruct the view of a child about to cross the street on his/her bicycle. Please drive responsibly.
SHELTER HOUSE We have had positive response to the addition of our shelter house. It is being used by our Harborview families. . We are getting reservation requests from residents for all kinds of special occasions. Reservation information and forms may be obtained from our website (www.harborviewhoa.org).
BOAT OWNER’S REMINDER Boats may no longer be parked on a driveway after September 10th. (“1 week after Labor Day Weekend”) Please arrange for your boat to be housed in your garage or on an off-property site.
