HARBORVIEW HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER
December 2008
Message from the President
Merry Christmas to everyone. As we prepare for the New Year, the annual reports and next year’s budget are being prepared by the Board. We have done very well this year and our neighborhood is a great place to live and raise a family. We continue to upgrade things and beautify our community and we have plans to do a few new things next year. Please come out to our annual meeting in January to get the full story from our reports. We have good news about our annual dues…NO increase. It has been my pleasure to serve you.
HHOA Annual Meeting
Each year our annual meeting is held on the third Tuesday in January. This year it will be held at the Smithville First Christian Church, 201 Bridge St in downtown Smithville. We will meet at 7pm on January 20th.
Opening on HHOA Board
Last year we had 2 openings on the Board, This year there is another chance for 2 new people to step in and bring some new ideas. Being on the Board does not mean you have to do everything yourself. If you are a resident in good standing and wish to serve, contact any board. For those of you making a last minute decision to serve, we will be taking nominations from the floor.
WIN FULL PAYMENT OF YOUR 2009 DUES. – TWO PEOPLE WENT HOME WINNERS LAST YEAR – THIS YEAR IT COULD BE YOU!!
This year, there will be two door prizes given at our annual meeting. The first prize will be a full payment of 2009 dues. The second prize will be one-half payment of 2009 dues. Every home will be allowed one entry. Only homeowners present at the time of the drawing and in good standing will be qualified to win.
Penalties
The Covenants were established to keep our neighborhood a desirable place to live and a good investment. During the purchase of our property, we learned that there were covenants and by our purchase committed to those covenants. Unfortunately sometimes residents chose to ignore the covenants even after being notified that they are in violation. The Board is developing a policy and procedure for covenant enforcement.
Vandalism at Harborview
Our vandalism report has resulted in someone from our community being charged. This is not an action that we are happy about, but we must protect our common property each homeowner needs to be vigilant;
Neighborhood Watch
During this time of year, many families go away for the holidays. Sometime people return to their homes to find, they had unwanted visitors while they were gone. By being involved in Neighborhood Watch Program, we can help each other avoid such surprises. Contact Billie Harris at 873-0069 for information.
SLOW DOWN!!!!
Just a reminder, the speed limit in Harborview is 25 mph!! (All of Smithville, unless posted otherwise, is 25 mph.) Be careful, especially when children may be playing on ice and snow covered streets. Their “sleds” do not have brakes and have no controls. Parked cars can obstruct the view of a child sliding down the street on a saucer. Please drive carefully.
