Message from the President

2011 has been an eventful year. Subsequent to a suggestion from one of the homeowners that we needed to upgrade the appearance of our entryways, and the lighting at the Porter Drive entry way needed to be replaced, the Board selected LED low voltage lighting and some very decorative Granite Column lighting for the median. (The LED low voltage lights reduced our consumption of electricity by 70% to 80%). Within 2 weeks of installation someone stole all the lights. A police report was made and is still open. Anyone with any knowledge about the theft please notify the board or police. We have since replaced the lights with less decorative standard low voltage lights.

We plan to have a community work day May 5, 2012 (With May 12, 2012 being an alternate.) to do weeding and planting at the Porter Drive entrance. Anyone interested in helping to beautify that entrance please mark those dates on your calendar.

Spring clean up went well this year with 2 truckloads of trash removed. More homeowners participate each year so we are planning to have it again next year. We will publish the date as soon as possible.

The pool house was resided this year with a pre-colored cement board siding which is guaranteed for 15 years. An exhaust fan was also added to the pool house to cool the pump area and remove some of the chlorine gases. We continue to have problems at the pool with non Harborview residence using the pool. It was brought to our attention in early June; some of them are associated with Smithville sports. I contacted the Smithville School District Superintendant regarding the problem. He was going to have all the coaches address the problem with their teams.

Openings on HHOA Board

There is one position coming open on the board. Being on the Board does not mean you have to do everything yourself.  Please contact any board member if you wish to serve. For those of you making a last minute decision to serve, we will be taking nominations from the floor at the annual meeting.

WIN PAYMENT OF YOUR 2012 DUES BY ATTENDING THE ANNUAL MEETING

The Annual meeting is set for Tues Jan 17, 2012; 7pm @ the First Christian Church of Smithville; 201 N Bridge ST Smithville MO. Again this year, there will be two door prizes given away at our annual meeting.  The first prize will be a full payment of 2012 dues. The second prize will be one-half payment of 2012 dues. Every home will be allowed one entry. Only homeowners present at the time of the drawing and in good standing will be qualified to win. 

Neighborhood Watch

During this time of year, many families go away for the holidays. Sometime people return to their homes to find, they had unwanted visitors while they were gone. By being involved in Neighborhood Watch Program, we can help each other avoid such surprises. Our Coordinator is Billie Francis at 873-0069 for information.
